From Vulnerable to Resilient: How Oreta Transformed Intrapac’s Data Protection in 7 Days

Intrapac Property Pty Ltd is one of Australia’s most respected residential property  developers, headquartered in Melbourne, Victoria. With a history spanning more than three decades, Intrapac has built a reputation for creating sustainable, liveable, and thoughtfully designed communities. Their developments are known for integrating green spaces, infrastructure, and housing that meet the evolving needs of Australian families. From boutique urban infill projects to large-scale master-planned estates, Intrapac is committed to delivering high-quality outcomes that blend architectural excellence with environmental stewardship. Operating across multiple states, the company’s continued growth is supported by a forward-thinking approach to technology and operations, including the adoption of robust IT systems to support its business functions.

Challenges

Intrapac faced growing pressure to enhance the resilience and manageability of its data protection strategy. The business had no existing backup solution for its Microsoft 365 applications, including Exchange Mailboxes, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive—leaving critical collaboration and communication data unprotected. Additionally, four key virtual machines hosted on a Proxmox platform within the on-premises Data Centre lacked an integrated backup framework, creating a single point of failure. To support business continuity, offsite backup capabilities were also required. Compounding the challenge was the need for a quick turnaround with minimal disruption to daily operations. Intrapac needed external expertise to implement a fit-for-purpose solution that could be deployed quickly and seamlessly.

Solution

To address these challenges, Oreta designed and delivered a comprehensive Veeam-based data protection solution tailored to Intrapac’s specific environment. Veeam Data Cloud for Microsoft 365 was implemented to protect 58 users across Mailboxes, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive. This SaaS-based approach was validated through rigorous testing of backup and restore functions. For the on-premises environment, Oreta deployed Veeam Backup & Replication on a dedicated Windows Server to manage the backup of the four critical virtual machines, with a separate Linux VM installed for data processing. The solution was delivered end-to-end, including architecture design workshops, license procurement, and the provision of as-built documentation. A one-day hyper-care support window was also included to ensure a smooth transition. Impressively, the entire project was delivered remotely and completed within just seven days.

Outcome

The project resulted in a robust, scalable backup environment that now covers both Microsoft 365 cloud workloads and vital on-prem virtual machines. Key outcomes for Intrapac included:

  • Enhanced data protection for business-critical systems.
  • Simplified backup management aligned with internal IT governance.
  • Greater operational confidence, knowing all essential data is securely backed up and easily recoverable.
  • A smooth transition to business-as-usual, supported by documentation and knowledge transfer.

Oreta’s solution has empowered Intrapac to operate with confidence, knowing their data resilience is future ready.
