Challenges
Tabcorp faced the challenge of upgrading their ISO 27001 certification from the 2013 to the 2022 version. This certification was essential as Tabcorp was undergoing the VIC Licensing process, a regulatory requirement critical to their operations. The VIC License grants Tabcorp the exclusive authority to conduct wagering and betting activities in Victoria, operate the state’s only off-course wagering and betting retail network, and establish and run a betting exchange. To secure this license, Tabcorp needed to successfully complete the ISO 27001 uplift and achieve certification under the 2022 standard.
Solution
Oreta stepped in to address Tabcorp’s challenge by providing expert support to their assurance team. Two Oreta specialists were embedded at Tabcorp’s Sydney office, working closely with the Security Assurance team for three months. Oreta’s involvement was crucial in guiding Tabcorp through the transition from the 2013 to the 2022 ISO 27001 standard. This included conducting thorough gap assessments, developing and implementing new policies, procedures, and guidelines, training staff, and ensuring ongoing compliance with the updated standard.
Outcome
Oreta played a key role in closing all identified gaps during the uplift process from the 2013 to the 2022 version of ISO 27001. The team ensured that necessary processes, guidelines, and security controls were implemented, effectively mitigating any risks. Additionally, Oreta supported Tabcorp by directly addressing auditor questions, helping them successfully navigate the certification process. As a result, Tabcorp is now proudly certified under the latest 2022 ISO 27001 standard, positioning them well for their ongoing operations and compliance requirements.
